Fixed Delivery Date in Disciplined Agile Delivery

In Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD), a Fixed Delivery Date is a constraint that specifies a specific deadline for the delivery of a software increment or project. This constraint requires the team to focus on delivering valuable working software within the set timeframe, without extending the deadline.

Key points about Fixed Delivery Date in DAD:

• Time constraint: Teams must work within a fixed timeframe and adjust their scope or resources to meet the delivery date.
• Focus on value: The emphasis is on delivering high-value features and functionality within the deadline.
• Flexibility: Teams may need to adapt their approach, prioritize work, or make trade-offs to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaboration: Close collaboration among team members, stakeholders, and customers is essential to meet the fixed delivery date successfully.

Benefits of Fixed Delivery Date:

• Predictability: Stakeholders can rely on the team to deliver within a known timeframe.
• Time-to-market: Accelerates the delivery of value to customers by setting a clear deadline.
• Prioritization: Encourages teams to focus on essential features and minimize scope creep.
• Improved discipline: Promotes efficient use of time and resources to meet deadlines.

Challenges of Fixed Delivery Date:

• Scope management: Balancing scope, schedule, and resources to meet the deadline.
• Risk management: Identifying and mitigating risks that could impact delivery dates.
• Dependency management: Addressing dependencies that could cause delays in the delivery.
